North Star Arabians---A lifelong journey |
||||
North Star Arabians evolved as…A natural progression of a lifetime of involvement with horses—a variety of breeds, types, and disciplines. Active involvement with Arabians began in the 70's during the height of investor activity in the Scottsdale area. We purchased our first part-Arabians in 1983, followed by purebreds beginning in 1985, at which time, we became known as North Star Arabians.
Our training program is based on natural horsemanship philosophies, principles, and methods. We have a rather eclectic horsey background, having been exposed to, and having learned from, a vast array of people and horses throughout our lifetime. Our favorite mentors thus far have been Tom & Bill Dorrance, Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman, and we have a great love and appreciation for classical dressage, which goes right along with the above mentioned master horsemen. Of late, we've enjoyed following the growing popularity of Mark Rashid. We enjoy working with horses and riders as the individuals that they are, and partnerships between horses and riders are very important to us. North Star Arabians has been built upon a foundation of hard work, determination, and the faith, courage and conviction to follow one's dreams. Horsemanship and horse breeding is a journey, the more one knows, the more there is to know. An open mind, and a thirst for knowledge have been tantamount in the development of North Star Arabians. We are selectively breeding for good-moving, pretty athletes with sound minds, suited for distance riding, dressage, working western, and recreational trail riding. Our breeding program consists predominantly of straight Egyptian, Al Khamsa bloodstock, Egyptian-related horses, and part-Arabians, some of which are colored. (Pintos, buckskins, blacks) And we do have some wonderful American-bred horses, also. We hope that you enjoy your visit, and that you will come back and visit us. We are always happy to answer questions about our stallions or our program. Actually, horse talk is always welcome here.
