Ramesses II at the Battle of Kadesh

The Egyptian rider at the top, one-quarter from the right edge, gallops towards the camp which is out of view. Another very small Egyptian rider half way down the right edge gallops back into the main scene.

Amelia B. Edwards published this scene from Ramesses II's Battle of Kadesh tableau at Abu Simbel in Pharaohs, Fellahs, and Explorers published in 1891. It looks just like the top portion of Rosellini's drawing of the north wall of the great hall at Abu Simbel, reproduced magnificently in a two page spread in Ramesses II by T.G.H. James, Friedman/Fairfax ©2002.
