Ramesses II accompanied by his sons, storming the Hittite fortress of Dapur

Ramesses II ordered this tableau to depict some of his sons in hand-to-hand combat and scaling the Hittite fortress of Dapur. They wear the sidelock of hair that designates youth. From a drawing published by Adolf Erman (from Lepsius) in Life in Ancient Egypt first published in 1886.
